escape death, death valley 2011 part 1

Our latest photo adventures bring us to a weekend in Death Valley. Something about the desert certainly speaks to me in an elusive yet vibrant way. Recently, I think I have been transitioning to appreciate things more minimally, and what a better example of minimalism than the desert? Something about the desert is utterly tranquil, the lavender skies blanket the distant faded grey blue hues of the mountain ridges. As empty as the landscape may seem, it brings a sense of calmness and helps me get away from our everyday nonsense. A lot of people question why I go camping so often, how troublesome it is and what the real gain is, so I hope these photos help to explain that.

love the intro pic! and your pics have such good color/lighting... the black and white one of the dunes is so nice! also the one of kanako & the bench... and the vertical of dante's... love having the chance to look at things thru your lens! til next timeeee!
