Flight

Learning to read between the lines is harder than watching the movie; beginnings are more accepted and endings are more disappointing.  Our expectations never ceases to amaze me.  Our appetites never satisfied; an insatiable hunger, always looking for more to stuff our faces with (and we wonder why our kids are getting obese).  We think we are unique individuals but one day we will realize that we are not so different from one another.  We eventually come across all the same hardships of life and we learn to cope with it in our own way.  We keep ourselves and our minds busy so we do not wander off into boredom or realization that the grind is a really shitty place to be.

Dictated by the flavors of coffee, we are guided through the lines of life as we inch towards death.  The hurdles are being hurdled, the mountains being climbed.  Soon enough, we will think we know  a lot more than we actually do and we will pretend that we have reached a stage of wisdom.  We neglect the fact that we are still lost and insignificant in the world while we stuff ourselves with excuses and expensive things.

Have we not learned from the examples set forth for us?  Have we not gotten the point that the cycle is inevitable?  Money rules all and there is little that can be done.  Efforts shall be as faint as the shadows shrinking into their crevices as the omnipotent sun shows its face.  Its rays extending its helping hand, offering its assistance in time of need.  So the country squabbles and squirms, searching for an exit strategy to this economic crisis.  The system is in shambles, all surface is distorted with half truths and full lies.  Two way mirrors and security cameras.  Fear is our biggest hurdle yet.  Once we jump it, we can be freed of mental enslavement.

But how do we jump?  Who can we turn to?  For there needs to be a leader with his tongue as sweet as cane sugar.  Before we jump, we have to be able to let go of the ground.  Anxiety will wail its high pitched tune for the ground is too safe, too predictable.  And the air, well, its depth knows no range.  Why bother jumping when we can walk perfectly?  And we thought the world was round!!  So you are telling me to jump now?  What kind of a crazy are you?

So we stay on the ground until we feel it is safe to leave.  Some people never find it safe so some people never leave, camped out for the long haul, scared of parting with the known.  Hands clenching tight, always too afraid to let go.

It's sad when people never leave.  Some sort of fear has tied them down.

They never get to experience a certain facet of themselves; they often question their own abilities and capabilities.  They don't realize the true potential that they encompass inside.  A lot of doors are closed and dismissed before they are even given a chance.  Wouldn't you want to be free if you were given the chance to be?  Many people would die to be in our shoes.  We are given chances many times in our lives but sometimes we just refuse to take them.

For if we were all birds, we must all take risks before acquiring the knowledge for flight.
