A day for mothers. My cousin alluded that it should not be a day for mothers and that we should treat our mothers like this everyday of the year. For those of us lucky enough to still have our mothers around, cherish them with all your might because the fragility of life should not be taken for granted. I am reminded that this woman has sacrificed a lot of life for me, a lot of her waking day for me; the opportunity cost of a child is seriously astronomical (but we wont really feel that until we have our own). Because of this, I have a strong sense of filial piety, of wanting to repay my mother with unconditional gratitude for the rest of my post-rebellious and able life. Every act of servitude seems inconsequential in comparison to what our mothers have done for us. It's not easy being a single mother rising from the ashes of a devastating divorce, starting life anew, and putting 2 kids through the UC system.
I think it is in everyone's ability to be close with their mothers, it's just often we are pushed away when butting heads with authority. Parents have an insurmountable amount of wisdom as buried treasures, so this is the same reason why I cherish talks with elders of all walks of life.
Instead of buying her fancy things, I retreat to showing her my utmost respect, patience, and just spending time talking and getting close to her. I spent the Sunday making breakfast, visiting a local nursery and finishing off with a BBQ, her favorite.
Nikon f3hp, Fuji pro400h pushed 1 stop.
She used to make me omelettes for breakfast, so I made this basil-mushroom-green-onion-jalapeƱo-scramble with cherry tomatoes and sliced avocado with a lemon squeeze.

@wendy thanks, its probably due to just using film, your photos evoke the same emotions!
@jungle cooking is a learned sport, the more you cook the more you can freestyle dishes if you have the concepts down!
