We were humbled by the gentle hum of nature. Everything else didn't really matter anymore-your everyday problems sort of just melted away with the incessant heat.
The sun-baked rocks made it certain that it was still warm well after sundown. We hiked in search of a nice place to set up camp. We came across these tiny oval caves providing some type of shelter from the intrepid weather. We would later realize that these caves would trap the heat so everybody scooted out of their holes to bask in the cool of darkness. The black of the night was tattered by headlamps.
Rain drizzled on us while we slept with thunderclouds rumbling in the distant. The sprinkle of large droplets felt refreshing with the eyes closed.
The next morning we explored our surroundings in awe of the nuances of rock formations that stood before us. We trudged through the slot canyons again, arms wet from sporadic rain, diligently navigating through slices of sandstone. And maybe it was then when we felt a little closer to nature, realizing how insignificant our daily problems might be.
