First glimpse of Nippon

Here is a first look at some of the things I've experienced in my last 2 days here. Got to borrow a digital Canon S90. Pretty sharp for a point n shoot. Not used to such Instant Gratification! But very convenient for snapshots, especially landscape and food.

Radiating light rays as we were approaching Narita.

Beautiful lush forests on the train to Kashiwa.

The S90 has a good dynamic range, arriving in Kita Kashiwa where Keny lives.

Negi!

Miso, negi. Next pictures are of this gyoza spot, with ika following.

HAM U.F.O.

View outside of Keny's place during sunset.

Soaked garlic, must learn how to make this.

My host.

Neighboring fall leaves on my walk to 7/11.

As you may know, the 7/11's are like havens here. The lunch rush is bustling, the ladies are ringing up patrons as fast as they are swarming in. All the front spots are parked with utility trucks, 2 workers eating ramen or reading comics during lunch break. All the bentos are legit and even the oden sitting in its bath is tasty too.

That last shot is of a roll of film I bought for $10, Fuji Natura 1600 color film. Also bought a US-discontinued Portra 800 color. Will be developing my first roll of film in the next few days.

Toast, peanut spread, instant coffee, HAM U.F.O., oden, and ten don bento.
